With the start of another school year, I can’t help but reminisce about my time as an administrator at
Douglas Elementary School. Each year started with the same thing: change. Each year involved new teachers joining the staff, teachers moving schools or leaving, new students, new policies, and much more. You have
probably noticed the changed look of our products, our website, and our catalog, and that is because change is inevitable for us all.
From our humble beginnings of creating state standards flip charts in my garage, to impacting students across this great nation with Motivation Math and Motivation Reading, one thing hasn’t changed: our
dedication to the success of students. You can find that underlying dedication in our very name. When defining the word “mentor,” we find a trusted counselor or teacher. That is exactly what I had in mind for Mentoring Minds; we want to be a trusted partner for educators to come to for advice, resources, concerns, or any other educational quandary you face.
I know first-hand the types of experiences you encounter day-in and day-out on your campuses, and let me be among the first to say, “Thank You.” The same passion that drives you to make a difference in children’s lives, drives me to make sure you are adequately equipped to do so.
After watching the movie Toy Story with my two girls, there is a song that comes to mind and I’m passing it along to you, “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.” As you embark on this new year of change, remember you have a partner you can come to with whatever educational obstacles you face. Thank you again for your
dedication to educating America’s youth.
Your partner in success,
Michael L. Lujan, M.Ed.
