ADD/ADHD Wheel facilitates student improvement among peers and academically
"A must for every teacher!"
Educators are encountering students who face academic challenges such as ADD and ADHD at an increasing rate over time. Teachers should not feel unprepared to accommodate the unique needs of an ADD/ADHD student, however. There are many teaching strategies available and proven for working with such students. Mentoring Minds has developed our own ADD/ADHD Wheel to facilitate quality exchange of information between instructors and students who are challenged in academic environments.
Like our other teaching wheels, the ADD/ADHD Wheel help teachers guide their students to meet essential and foundational learning objectives that will assist them throughout their entire academic career. This teaching strategies resource is specifically aimed at teachers, parents, and specialists who collaborate and make mutual decisions regarding attention and behavior difficulties in their students.
Bloom’s Taxonomy, which is the basis for most of the Mentoring Minds teaching wheels, is designed to aid teachers in setting useful learning objectives for their students. By separating various types of learning into different categories, or “domains,” the taxonomy builds foundational knowledge and skills that are carried on throughout school and later life.
The ADD/ADHD Wheel approaches Bloom’s Taxonomy with appropriate strategies for students with attention and behavior issues. These young learners often have difficulty participating successfully with other students at school. This teaching wheel provides tools for such students to engage meaningfully with their peers and throughout their complete school environment.
The teaching strategies on this teaching wheel are divided into six separate areas that are crucial to the educational achievement of students with ADD or ADHD. Various strategies accompany each learning objective set out in the six areas. This easily accessible tool gives teachers inspiration for homework success, student accomplishment, and parent satisfaction.
Parents are integral to every child’s academic achievement, but especially in the case of ADD/ADHD students does parent engagement increase the chances of improvement. Educators may use the teaching wheel to gather parent suggestions and integrate them into the daily progress of their child’s learning and skill building.
Teachers can also help their students develop important skills outside the expected knowledge building exercises. From social skills and adapting to different settings, to organization and time management, educators can use our teaching wheels to help their students who have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD.
The ADD/ADHD Wheel is an educational resource to assist teachers, parents, and specialists as they collaboratively make decisions to help students with attention and behavior difficulties be successful in school. The selection of appropriate strategies allows learners with ADD/ADHD to participate meaningfully with other students in the classroom and school-wide environment so educators view them as positive learners.
