Critical Thinking Wheels are quick reference tools for teaching critical thinking skills
"A must for every teacher!"
One of the most important elements of Bloom’s Taxonomy is teaching critical thinking, which is why Mentoring Minds has a whole teaching wheel dedicated to learning that skill. Our critical thinking wheels provide teachers with the easy reference and quick access they need to help their students gain foundational knowledge and critical thinking skills essential for their future.
Educators have busy, hectic and sometimes stressful jobs, but instructing students on critical thinking doesn’t have to be difficult to fit in with your already chock-full lesson plans. Mentoring Minds has designed teaching wheels to be easy to use and packed of helpful teaching strategies that will bring success to your students.
Critical Thinking Wheels are based on Bloom’s Taxonomy, which was created to help educators set useful learning objectives for their students. The taxonomy is separated into three distinct parts, or "domains." These domains focus on different elements of learning, from knowledge to feelings to physical action. The domains are called cognitive, affective, and psychomotor, and each one of those domains is further broken down into more detailed and precise levels that apply to the overall goal of that domain.
Our Critical Thinking Wheels defines these terms for teachers and offers teaching strategies for how best to address them in your classroom. For each level of thinking, there are a variety of different questions suggested for use with your students. The questions are designed to be open-ended in order to be applied to any subject matter being studied in your classroom.
Mentoring Minds employs "Power Words" to help teachers construct high quality lessons. Critical Thinking Wheels have six Power Words that are accompanied by relevant questioning prompts, definitions and teacher expectations for the lower levels of thinking skills. The other side of our teaching wheels has the same set of words and prompts but for use with higher learning levels.
Our teaching wheels are designed to suit the needs of any grade, student and content, so teachers do not have to be concerned with finding specific wheels for different grade levels or student needs. If you are an educator who believes in the great importance of teaching critical thinking to students, consider Mentoring Minds Critical Thinking Wheels for your classroom.
