Mentoring Minds Launches Itematica™, a Powerful New Customizable Online Assessment Tool

Partnership with Key Data Systems Offers Educators Access to the Inspect® Item Bank, Aligned to State Standards for Math, English/Language Arts, Science and Social Studies

PHILADELPHIA – June 24, 2019 – To give educators the opportunity to build and customize classroom assessments, today at ISTE 2019, K-12 publisher Mentoring Minds, in partnership with Key Data Systems, introduced Itematica™, a comprehensive online assessment solution. This dynamic digital assessment tool allows educators to choose from an extensive library of pre-existing content and to customize items to meet the unique needs of their students.

“We are thrilled to partner with Key Data Systems to offer educators this comprehensive and robust assessment tool,” said Shad Madsen, CEO, Mentoring Minds. “Each classroom is different and teachers need the ability to design assessments that address the learning needs of their students and the learning goals of their school and district.”

A premier feature of Itematica is the Living Item Bank, which contains more than 100,000 K-12 items across ELA, math, social studies and science, written to align with the rigor of today’s standards including Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) and Partnership for Assessment of College and Careers (PARCC). Itematica’s flexibility allows for assessments to be assigned in print or online, with the print results able to be scanned on a scanner or with your mobile device to capture results. Real-time progress monitoring across multiple dimensions brings the data to life and helps educators take appropriate steps toward standards mastery for their students. The more than 500 pre-built assessments include formative assessments, performance tasks, end-of-year and Spanish-trans-adapted and translated assessments.

“Our promise is to increase the power of teaching and the delight of learning, providing solutions and support to as many students and educators as possible,” said Sabine Wallis, vice president of product management for Key Data Systems. “We are excited to make our Inspect and STAAR Test Maker content and assessment solutions available to even more classrooms and schools through Itematica!”

Educators who use the Living Item Bank can create tests, develop customized reports and filter data to meet their specific needs. Items in the bank include math and ELA that incorporate Depth of Knowledge for Levels 1-3 and Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy. Math items align to the standards for mathematical practice including geometry, algebra and pre-calculus. With the inclusion of high-quality literary passages that offer complex history and technology along with science-based content, technology-enhanced items as drag-and-drop, graphing and technology-enabled listening, students are able to experience a high-stakes testing environment, giving them unparalleled preparation for college and career.
