By using these wheels and the teacher guide, educators can help students develop and improve their questioning and thinking skills. Student engagement will increase with each lesson and they will take a more active role in their learning.
The ThinkUp! Critical Thinking Student Wheels for levels 1-3, 4-5, and 6-12 offer quick-and-easy access to critical thinking stems based on Bloom’s Taxonomy. The wheels also feature nine traits that when fully applied help students become active and productive thinkers as they face challenges, solve problems, make decisions, and complete tasks.
Side one of the wheels includes prompts and Power Words designed around the six levels of Bloom’s and Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy (RBT): Knowledge/Remember; Comprehension/Understand; Application/Apply; Analysis/Analyze; Synthesis/Create; and Evaluation/Evaluate.
Side two focuses on the 9 Traits of Critical Thinking: Adapt, Examine, Create, Communicate, Collaborate, Reflect, Strive, Link, and Inquire. Icons accompany the traits and serve as visual reminders of the meaning of each trait.
The Teacher Guide helps educators deepen the impact of the student use of the wheels in the classroom. The recommended guide contains strategies and activities teachers can use to address Bloom’s Taxonomy, promote a thinking-centered environment, and cultivate the nine traits that lead to skillful thinking.

In a recent visit by university representatives to our high school, college personnel commented that, for the first time ever, they were witnessing students using critical thinking skills and putting these skills into action. They had heard this in theory but were now actually seeing it practiced in the classroom. This is due to the use of student critical thinking wheels in the classroom.
These materials are exactly what we need to get our students to think critically. I am constantly looking for new ways to stimulate the learning process and these products are great!
